Mythological forms of Devi Durga :
According to many Rishis who have visualized Devi Durga in many forms and so in our scriptures the form of Devi durga is enormous.
Hindu Scriptures believe in the forms like : Mahismardini Durga, Nava Durga, Aparajita Durga, Bono Durga, Nishtarini Durga, Annapurna Durga, Jagaddhatri Durga and many more to say. In Markendeyo Puran there is Mention of Nava Durga forms where Devi mentioned the following forms :
To kill Shumbha Nishumbha Devi durga will take birth as Bindyachalbasini..To kill Baiprachit Asur Devi takes the form of Raktadantika, After that to relieve the Earth from no rain and water from earth Devi comes to rescue in the form of Shatakshi with hundred eyes. Till rain comes Devi evolves in the form of Shakambhari to give vegetables and rescue the earth. After that to kill Durga Asur Devi is said to take the form and name as Durga. To save the Rishis from Asuras in the Himalayas Devi takes the form of Bheema Devi…Also to kill a Asura named Arun and save Trilok ….Devi takes the form of Bhramari.In this way Devi Durga Saves the Earth and Heaven in various forms and always various names according to specific reason as in Mythology.
In General Nava Durga is worshipped in the following forms for the Shaivas like : Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Scandamata, Kattayani, Kalratri, Mahagouri, Siddhidatri, this is also mentioned in Chnadi. For the Baishnavs Devi forms are SreeDevi, Amritadhobba, Kamala, Chandrashovini, Vishupatni, Vaishnavi, Vararoha, Hariballava, Sarongini…
In South India Naba Durga are BonoDurga, Shulini, Jatabeda, Shanti, Shabori, Jwala Durga, Labona, Asuri and DeepDurga.
We also see the Nabapatrika has Nine forms of Devi as per the nine plants that is worshipped in the durga puja.
